Mitchell Froom and I put this track together in the midst of the NY lock down in the Spring of 2020. A good friend of mine was having a particularly rough time and I wrote this song based on what he was going through. Byron Isaacs helped me finish it. I recorded a version of it on my iPhone with an acoustic guitar, which I sent to Mitchell Froom who then produced this track in his studio. We had David Boucher do the mix.

There are few if any guitar solos on the new record, but I loved this track that Mitchell put together and was dying to hear what someone would do over it. We decided to throw it out to some friends and see what happened if they soloed over an extended outro. I sent it initially to Nels Cline, David Hidalgo and Marc Ribot. They all sent back tracks cut from home rigs or whatever they could muster at the time.

Although it was written about what one friend was experiencing, it’s about what so many of us are feeling right now, whether we’re stuck at home, an essential worker, or on the front lines. Now we have about 30 or so versions from other great players we respect which we’ve posted. It just kind of turned into something. Maybe we’re crazy, I don’t know, but... Don’t Get Me Started.
